Four Seasons, Four Colors, simply referred to as 4season, is a musical project by MAMAMOO, and their first musical project overall. The project consists of four themed extended plays and two concerts. As an extension of the project, two Japanese single albums and a Japanese album were released, and a Japanese concert was held.
Project Concept[]
MAMAMOO's goal with the project is to show their depth as artists and to mature in their musical style.[3] The song "Paint Me" showcases the overall concept for the project.
The project's main theme involves the four seasons, and four colors associated with each of them. Each MAMAMOO member is assigned with an extended play, a color, and a season:[4]
- Hwa Sa is assigned with the album Yellow Flower, the color yellow, and the season of spring.
- Moon Byul is assigned with the album RED MOON, the color red, and the season of summer.
- Solar is assigned with the album BLUE;S, the color blue, and the season of fall.
- Whee In is assigned with the album White Wind, the color white, and the season of winter.
Each color is also associated with the stages of a relationship:[5][4]
- Yellow with the beginning of the relationship and love.
- Red with the passionate romance of the relationship.
- Blue with the sadness and loneliness felt during the breakup.
- White with the clean and pure stage before starting to love again.
Project History[]
Korean Installments[]
The single "Paint Me" was first released on January 4, 2018 as a prelude for the project. The song was later included in the project's first extended play Yellow Flower, which was released on March 7, 2018. There were MVs released for the songs "Star Wind Flower Sun" and "Be Calm", with the latter being Hwa Sa's solo song for the EP.
Before the release of the project's second extended play, Moon Byul had debuted as soloist with the single "SELFISH" featuring Red Velvet's Seulgi on May 23, 2018. The song was then included in the EP RED MOON as Moon Byul's solo song. There was also a pre-released single titled "Rainy Season", which was released on July 1, 2018. The EP as a whole was released on July 16, 2018 with the title track "Egotistic", and MAMAMOO usually performed "Sleep In The Car" alongside the song on music shows.
The third extended play of the project, BLUE;S, was released on November 29, 2018 with "Wind flower" as its title track. On music shows, they usually performed the song with "No more drama". Solar's solo song for the EP, "HELLO", did not have an official MV, but instead, Solar released a dual pole-dancing video of the song on her channel solarsido.
The project's fourth and last extended play was released on March 14, 2019, its title being White Wind and having the song "gogobebe" as its title track. MAMAMOO usually performed the song Waggy alongside "gogobebe" on music shows. There was an MV for Whee In's solo song "25" for the EP, and there was a special video titled "4season and 4color" using White Wind's outro "4season" as its music.
Japanese Installments[]
During the releases of the extended plays, MAMAMOO made their debut in Japan on October 3, 2018 with the single album Décalcomanie -Japanese ver.-. The album's title track of the same name is the Japanese version of the group's song "Décalcomanie", and there was also an additional track titled "You Don't Know Me". The group then released their second Japanese single album called Wind flower -Japanese ver.- on February 6, 2019. The album's title track of the same name is the Japanese version of Wind flower, and there's also an additional track titled "Sleep Talk".
MAMAMOO later released a Japanese album titled 4colors on August 7, 2019. The Japanese version of "gogobebe" is considered as the album's title track, and all of the songs from the previous Japanese single albums were included. In addition to the previous tracks, 4colors also contained the Japanese versions of the Korean EPs' title tracks, the solo songs of each EP, and a new song called "Nada Sousou".

During the project's duration, MAMAMOO also held multiple concert tours for the project.
The first concert tour was titled as 2018 MAMAMOO CONCERT 4season S/S. The event took place in multiple locations, which are Seoul, New Taipei City, and Hong Kong. The Seoul concert was on August 18 to August 19, 2018, the New Taipei City concert was on September 1, 2018, and the Hong Kong concert was on September 2, 2018.

The Seoul concert was from April 19 to April 21, the New Taipei City concert was from June 15 to June 16, the Daegu concert was from June 27 to June 28, and the Hong Kong concert was on September 28.
Although the F/W concert is generally considered as the last concert for the project, according to its title, MAMAMOO 2nd Concert Tour in JAPAN: 4season Final is actually the project's final concert tour. The event was an international one, but only took place in Japan. The concert tour was first held in Yokohama on August 11, 2019, then on August 13, 2019 in Osaka. With the concert tour's last show, the project ended.
